Some of the separate items are repeated but I have broken it all down in the different situations and time frames and by what is important
If you keep scrolling down from the top
you will see where I have updated our progress in this situation
UPDATE:May 12,2001
I did All I could in the natural and kept the faith Then God stepped in A couple showed up on my door step. They sent a van. We began attending their church After the
frustration of the newspaper I called the radio station basically ran into
the same brick wall that I ran into with the newspaper. You are welcome to
read the whole story of what all we went through to get a church,
however, the most Important thing I'd like this page to get across Is what
I put into the newspaper
We are no longer with the last church. One Morning we waited and waited the van hadn't come.
I called and they apologized. Again the van never came the next Sunday. Still hasn't come and
no one ever called.
We moved a couple months ago
and now have a car that God has blessed us with So please pray God to lead us to our Home Church.
I will say this, I know this is the enemy trying to get us too frustrated to even try but it isn't going to work
We know God has a place and a work for us
and we will be in a Church home soon
Come back to see how God blessed and where HE opened doors We are confident it will be soon
UPDATE May 2002
We have a church home. To be honest God had spoken too me many weeks ago
to attend this church
but I guess I was scared to be disappointed again. My son seen the lil church and said he was going if he had to walk
He asked me what I thought of him wanting to go that bad I kind of smiled and said I think it's great
but I also think it's Gods way of telling me
sense I wasn't listening he would have my son drag me in
We have to take more then one trip to get us all there because our car is broke down, but we do go every Sunday.
Also I feel God has been telling me for a very long time the biggest reason I don't always feel completely comfortable is because He has a work for me and it isn't just in someone else's church. Ever sense I was given the privilege
to be Minister over SWAT Ministries God has shown me where we will be in a building of our own.
I can recall when I first had to stand before a group without Phyllis or any other leaders I was helping and feeling like
I wasn't suppose to
be doing this alone.
He gently spoke to me that it was time. Things haven't been the same sense we moved and no longer have our own building but with great joy I tell you God has been opening doors!
SWAT Ministries is growing an maturing into a full time Ministry.
We will still be attending "Chapel In the Woods" on Sunday, but when the new SWAT Ministries building opens we will not only be having services on Saturday
but we will have the SMCA (school) a food and clothes pantry and day care for families who attend the school!
One concept that is through the whole Word of God that I want to leave with you on this update
"Obedience is greater then sacrifice"
I tell my children all the time about the difference in simply doing something good and doing what they are told.
The example I used with them was their chores, If I ask them to clean the dishes and when I get home they have cleaned their room and cleaned the living room, took out all the trash and vacuumed and the entire house was spotless but they didn't do the dishes.. the one thing I asked them to do then even though the things they did were good..
they didn't do what they were asked to do. They may have sacrificed all their time doing all those "good things" but they still weren't obedient.
God reminded me of that lesson.
Be obedient, its very rewarding. Don't allow the enemy to rob you of what our precious Father has for you because of fear or simple disobedience.
The moment I replaced fear with faith and did as I was told the doors flew open!
Not just with our building but personally
for me and my family.
UPDATE June 2002
We are still at Chapel in the Woods. They are a great bunch of loving people They call and make sure we are all ok
if for some reason we are not there The enemy tried attacking us with taking our car but thats ok God fixed that too and opened a door for yet another blessing!!
If you are currently in or ever come to Dallas I recommend dropping by and seeing us and meeting the family at Chapel in the Woods. Oh and might I add we all know how God works right? Mysteriously Well, seems the pastor of this lil church has a son and has been working with my husband and none of us had any idea. But God knew Was a nice surprise for Chris and Jeremiah.
2.The Building I call myself a member of, are they leaving people out?
3.Is there an out reach in your church where they go door to door and
invite people in the churches area and make sure everyone has an opportunity
to get in on the blessings of the Savior? Are their people close by who don't
know Him at all?
4.Are there NEW Christian updaters?
Sound crazy?
What it basically means is when a person is newly in the family they need guidance.
That's when the devil hits them the hardest. Is someone checking up on them on a
regular basis? Or did someone visit your church a few times then suddenly
stop? Does anyone call and say... Hey are you ok? Do you?
5. Does your church have some sort of bus/van/car ministry? Volunteers,
People willing to go get people for church?
Why am I asking you all of this?
Why am I even bothering writing this with the possibility that it
probably won't even be read by anyone?
Because I have hope someone will be touched by all of it
and I'm a mother of 7 children, two of which are teen mother and
another mother to be. A youth Minister promised them in a small town (Ferris)
that no matter how far away they moved they would come and get them and
didn't. Broke their hearts and Spirits. I have to keep reminding them GOD
can be found and reached without a building. We all know though, actual
church fellowship makes a difference.
I watched a man who stood in front of a church and said "I am trying to
get off drugs and alcohol, I want Jesus in my life and I know I need help"
That was my ex husband. NO ONE not one person visited him. That was in Saraland
Alabama. He went right back to drugs drinking and is in jail. A shame
isn't it; God has to keep him in jail to keep him near the Word.
I'm a woman who misses fellowship with those who are suppose to be my Christian
family and yet I don't have one friend aside of those in the Christian Chat room I
created.
A new young never been raised in a church husband who says, "I know who
God is and I'm willing to go to church and learn how to be a leader of this family"
but really don't know where to start and no one has come around to offer to
lead him.
Makes me wonder…
How many of "US" are out here in Dallas.(any city, town, state)
What's even more sad? We have a little bit of a chance at making it thru
the pearly gates because we have some background on how to get there….
What about all those who don't even know? Sure I have "issues" with the
church so to speak but there are people out there who don't even
KNOW. (Know what? Jesus of course)
What am I hoping to gain out of all of this? People who will
notice there are people who want and need to be in
church and fellowship and friendship with Gods people. And it could be the
person right next door to you.
I have called several churches since being in the city of Dallas. No not
every church I actually got aggravated and I guess you could accuse me of
giving up. No one would come and get us for church. No one. No wait
I had a friend I met on the Internet in my Christian chat room who come to
find out lived close and she came a few times and got my children and me.
We are a growing family but at the time we were only 11 members.
I'm not
sure if it turned out to be an inconvenience or the fact that she picked up
on the fact I wasn't happy in the church, It was like the people were there
but weren't,
if that makes any since. The "click" is that the word? I
certainly wasn't a part of it. This church is close and is well aware that
we needed transportation; they are a school and have vans. Have
basically unintentionally tortured us by sending flyers and brochures and
every time there is an event they call us and every time I tell them
"we have no transportation". Still no one comes to get us.
I called a few churches
and with everyone I got the same answer only in different words. "We
don't have a way to come and get you" "umm let me call you back after I find
out if we Go to THAT area" by the way if you're wondering the lady never
called back.
This is what I sent in to the
Dallas News paper 4/20/01 Not sure what the out come would be.
Hi, My name is Tammy Hunter and I have written something I'm not sure you will
even ever publish but it is something near and dear to my heart. Especially right now.
I know I'm not nor is my family the only one with problems or "issues" and I'm not even sure if the "religion"
staff are Christians or just regular employees of Dallas Morning
news; however; I have written down some feelings I'd like published and
expressed through the paper in hopes it will reach SOMEONE. So please read
what I have written and feel free to check me and my web site out for
legitimacy but once you see I'm merely a harmless "Christian" seeking a
place to call HOME please print my story.
"What I was requesting to be printed in the
"religion" Section of the paper"
To whom it may concern: (pay attention it could be you)
Technically anyone who calls themselves a "Christian"
should be at the very least "concerned".
I personally am angry and have some most definite
concerns in the area of Dallas churches and the subject of "Christianity"
itself.
My family and I have been residents of Dallas for a little over a year
now. I have noticed there is nearly a church on every corner.
Literally. You would think with so many churches surely there is charity and
compassion. Many of Gods Children busy doing and living HIS WILL.
Now don't get me wrong I'm not a "Christian Basher" and certainly not an
atheist. I actually have carried the title Minister myself. Youth Minister.
My problem and this feeling I have didn't start in Dallas but has grown in
Dallas.
The fact that the church doesn't seem to get the concept that there is
more to being and calling yourself a "Christian" then merely going to church
every time the doors are open.
It doesn't matter what the title to your religion is. To be a Christian
is to believe and know the Spirit of God. Know the Father, Son and Holy
Ghost.
RELATIONSHIP with God not the religion you are a member of. Also the
building no matter how big or how little it's the Spirit that's invited in
that matters, and what you do when you invite it in. Each religion has
its own way of individualizing the different people of the body of Christ.
I'm NOT against religion in general.
Adding to the subject of the building and group that you're in. Do you
know what is actually going on there beyond the sermons and few activities
your congregation is involved in? Do you know for sure that "your store
house" is actually reaching Gods people and doing their part in
bringing people in?
Are you?
I personally only "claim" "Christian" because I feel comfortable in many
different places just depends on how God is working in my life. If you
were to have to "label" me, I'm most comfortable in Spirit freely moving Joy
filled Bible teaching Holiness or Pentecostal Church of some version.
Although I Love the Baptist they enforce THE WORD especially in children.
Charismatic Christian - How does that sound for a title? *Smile*
I was christened Catholic as a child. My grandmother brought me to a
Catholic church as a child on a few occasions and my Aunt brought me to a
Baptist church. I was raised in a small country town and went to a southern
Baptist church was water baptized there. Then I turned 19 and learned there
was allot more to the Church and God and the Spirit. So I went from
christened, Baptized in water then baptized in the Holy Ghost.
Ok so you're asking yourself what's this woman's problem?
Let me tell you.
I have called several churches since being in the city of Dallas. No not
EVERY church I actually got aggravated and I guess you could accuse me of
giving up. No one would come and get us for church. No one. No wait
I had a friend I met on the Internet in my Christian chat room who come to

Don't feel so bad its not just Dallas I had the problem in a town in
Alabama too Saraland, Alabama actually. Just seems the bigger city isn't
necessarily better.
Breaking it down for you here…
What's wrong with GODS People? Aren't
we supposed to be "gather the flock"? Going out for the one?
I have now
lived in the BIG city and in the small country town and to be honest with
you, The lil country back folk picked on red necks have more "Christian "
compassion then all the concrete in the big city. They didn't care how far
they had to go. If they knew someone needed to go to church they went
and got them even if it meant more then one trip. Most of the lil churches
didn't have vans either this meant GODS PEOPLE being inconvenienced(they never thought it was) or
going out of their way with joy in their heart and a smile on their face to
get these people so they could go to church and have an opportunity to get in
on the Blessings and Presence of God and His Word and Love. For the "record"
it wasn't for larger numbers either. They weren't keeping track. Only
numbers that mattered to them was as many as they could reach what ever it
took were going to get the chance to meet our Precious Savior.
When someone
needed help on a light bill and a person found out in the church there was
no "let me consult this one or that" they took up a collection and told them
to thank GOD not them for it.
Charity… ok so there is people who take advantage of Gods people. It's
Gods job thou to take care of those who do us wrong. Why does it have to be
Christmas or Thanksgiving for people to help Gods people? Oh yeah and if
it's a church, you have to be a MEMBER to get help. Now wait I thought we
were all the body of Christ? And how can you become a MEMBER if no one comes
to get you to go to church?
Anyone see where I'm coming and going here? Basically ask yourself
1.Am I doing my part?
2.The Building I call myself a member of, are they leaving people out?
3.Is there an out reach in your church where they go door to door and
invite people in the churches area and make sure everyone has an opportunity
to get in on the blessings of the Savior? Or are their people who don't
know Him at all?
4.Are there NEW Christian updaters?

Subject: The Church - A building or The Body of Christ - Revised
Sent:Saturday, May 05, 2001 10:30 AM
I got a call yesterday from a Lady from the religion
section. She says normally you don't print things that long, also said
she'd make a few phone calls and call me back.(still haven't heard anything
yet) Well I revised the story or editorial what ever you would like to call
it. It doesn't seem so - Personal on my part. I guess it seemed as if my
feelings were more involved then they should have been or something. Fact is...
It is very personal.
It happens to be a problem in this area rather you think I have simply
hit the wrong areas or not. I have list and list and list of people I have
called.
Who is to say SOMEONE won't be touched and SOMEONE won't respond? It's much
shorter now. If you don't print it, I'll still find a way to get this
out because the point is, I'm not the only family who can't get to
church.
This isn't Much different then Ed Young's article. You printed his. He
was addressing the same issue. Only I'm the one that's on the end he was
referring to... the unreached... so what's the problem with putting my end?
REVISED VERSION
The Church- Just a Building or the Body of Christ?
Technically anyone who calls themselves a “Christian” should be at the very
least “concerned”.
I personally have some most definite concerns in these
areas, Dallas churches and the subject of “Christianity” itself.
My family and I have been residents of Dallas for a little over a year now.
I have noticed there is nearly a church on every corner. Literally. I

No one would come and get us for church. A few churches I called and
